Misleading Product Description – Discovery Bank Unconcerned
I recently purchased a voice bundle via my Discovery Bank app, which was described as “DayByDay Three Day Voice 100min”. However, when I checked the bundle in the Vodacom app, it was listed as “Daily 100 min Voice Bundle (Voda to Voda)”, meaning I can only call Vodacom numbers—something that was not disclosed when I made the purchase.
When I contacted Discovery Bank, I was placed on hold, only to be told that there is nothing they can do since Vodacom provides the descriptions. While I understand that Vodacom supplies this information, I expected Discovery Bank to take responsibility for what they advertise to their customers.
When I asked whether they didn’t find this misleading, the response was dismissive—simply stating that they will continue telling customers to contact Vodacom. This lack of accountability is unacceptable. If Discovery Bank chooses to sell third-party products, they should ensure the descriptions are accurate and not misleading. Passing the blame to Vodacom is poor service and not what I expect from a bank that prides itself on innovation and customer experience.
