Mighty giant not there for the little guy

Some months ago, DB attempted to process an unauthorised debit order. In addressing this, the call centre agent admitted the error to be on their part and that it would be remedied. Despite this undertaking, they failed to process the correct and duly authorised debit order, and instead started making allegations that I cancelled the debit order and that I am to blame.

Despite my dozens of phone calls, requests to speak to managers and so forth the problem CREATED BY THEM remained unresolved. This progressed to the next level. Messages threatening legal action if payment is not received, more phone calls to DB. Further escalation - the collections team now got my number and the harassment continues. Note that up to this point, they still not have remedied the error they created that gave rise to this chain of events.

Breaking point on my part regarding their unacceptable approach and handing off this matter, the decision to close my account was an easy one. Not entirely sure how long I had this account, but it must approximately be 20 years, give and take.

Another call to the call centre to close the account - this matter is now referred to another division and the closing might take as long as 8 days!

Further to this, a question is posed "would you like us to write off any funds in your account under R50". Should you give permission, any amount under R50 in your account is RETAINED by DB.

My closing of the account due to their error, now also resulted in DB's enrichment.

I have not closed all my accounts with DB following on this matter. And DB lost a client of 20 years.
