Interest Charged on Fully Settled Credit Card
I received my January statement on 06.01.2024 reflecting a closing balance of R15,165.99 due on 31.01.2024. I paid this amount in full on 27.01.2024. When I received my February statement on 06.02.2024 I saw an interest charge of R201.05. I called Discovery Bank to query this as the statement has the following noted "To qualify for the interest-free benefit on your credit card, please pay the closing balance on or before the payment date". I was informed I am being charged interest on my February statement because my credit card was not settled in full in December. I advised Discovery Bank that the interest for December was billed to my account in January however I was told this is how Discovery Bank works and I should read the terms and conditions. I have read the terms and conditions, specifically Section C, point 34 which reads as follows "You do not pay interest if you pay the full outstanding amount shown on your monthly account statement on or before the due date. The full amount outstanding is not the minimum payment due that is shown on your payment. " I have adhered to the terms and conditions and was incorrectly billed; I want my money back. Refer to case number ***2
