Incredibly difficult to apply, it seems that Discovery want to make it as difficult as possible

I decided to apply to Discovery Bank as I am a member of their medical scheme, and am a Vitality member.

I registered to apply some months ago, and once the bank launched I received an invitation to apply through their app.

I got some way through the application, to the point that I need to upload supporting documentation (I chose three Bank Statements), but despite havin these files in pdf format on my phone, I am unable to upload them. I just get the message 'Unable to upload file. Please try again later'. I have tried a number of times over the last couple of months, with no success.

Eventually I decided to call for assistance. Now I get that Discovery is trying to be an online bank, but it's rather difficult to find a phone number to call. Anyway, I evntually found one.

I spoke to a very helpful lady, explained my issue, and she said that if I emailed the statements to her, with my surname as the subject line, she would forward it on to the relevant team to get them to add the documents to my application. I did exactly as she said, and sent the documents through.

A few days later I got the following email response:

'Hi Jarrod

We received the attached email from our Servicing Team.

We checked your application and noticed that you need to continue/resume in your mobile app and upload your documents in the app.

There is no way unfortunately, to manually assist you with uploading or moving your application along on our end.

If you are encountering system issues uploading, please contact or Servicing Team on ***to assist you with navigating the app/overcoming the issue.

Regards,'

So, I'm back at square one again. I checked the app again, but of course it still doesn't allow me to upload my documents, despite them being the prescribed format (pdf), and well under the size limit (~17KB against a limit of 50MB).

Discovery, I'm getting the message that you don't want me as a banking customer. If you prefer that I stick with my current bank, I guess I will have to do so.
