Incorrect notification information.

Today I went to go and put petrol in my car, I filled up and used my discovery card to pay...Imagine my horror when the transaction was declined....in all my years of having a credit card I have never had this happen to me.

After my last transaction I was informed by DISCOVERY CARDS notification system that I still had a balance of over R1000,00 Left on my account. I filled up with petrol for R362.80 Tried to pay and got rejected.

I phoned Discovery and spoke to a consultant who told me that I didn’t have any money left in my account. When I explained that my last transaction told me I still did she informed me that the notification was not correct and that I didn’t have any money available. No matter how much I told them that discovery’s notifications said I do have the money available they would no t listen...when I asked how I was supposed to sort out the issue of petrol not being paid for they told me I can apply for a limit increase and wait 3 days....At first I though she was joking but she was serious. When I asked how that would solve my current problem she told me there is nothing she can do about it and I must sort it out myself and its not Discovery’s fault that they don’t give accurate and proper information about account balances.

I asked to speak to the manager, after waiting on hold for 7 minutes at the petrol station wasting my money on the call the manager (Leroy) tells me that I cant rely on Discovery’s notification system and I must log into discovery after every transaction to make sure that there is money in my account. I told him that I follow the notifications I receive from discovery to manage my account he told me that I cant use them as they are not up to date or correct, when I explained that I was still stuck at the petrol station with an unpaid amount he told me to apply for a limit increase and wait 3 days. I asked that they just allow this transaction through so I can get to a meeting and leave the petrol station at least he told me that he will not help me and that I must manage my finances better and not trust the discovery notifications and again log in after every transaction to check my balance even if Discovery tells me my balance.

Again I asked for a solution to the situation so I could at least pay the petrol station again he told me its not their problem and there is nothing he will do to help me.

This is the 3rd time in a year I have had problems with discovery card...every time I have a problem I get promised that they will monitor and make sure that there are no problems and I will get VIP service from them...every time I use my card there is some other problem.

I am now at my limit with the shocking service, rude treatment by staff and complete lack of professionalism by Discovery card. Should I not receive a full and unequivocal apology from discovery for the embarrassment they put me through and the complete lack of service I have received from the card division , and a refund on my airtime I will be closing my business with discovery card, discovery health, discovery vitality and discovery insurance. I will also at our next financial and HR review at work recommend we stop all credit card transactions with discovery and remove discovery as our company medical aid provider as well.

If this is how Disocvery "resolves" their issues by giving a stock standard answer and a reference number it explains why they are failing their customers...No personal treament, no calls....just a we are sorry message!!!
