Inaccurate Record Keeping

I struggled over the last day or so trying to resolve an issue on my credit card, totally the making of Discovery.

Let me start. On Tuesday 28 Feb 2017, standing in the iStore trying to procure my iWatch on the Vitality plan, I was informed that my credit card has been frozen. This of course was strange to me because I have used it is successfully over the last 4 months, and Discovery just deducted the new month’s fees from my bank account. Upon enquiry I was informed that this is due to the lack of Proof of Address on profile. You would excuse my surprise as I did include this in my original account opening documentation, I mean how else would I have received a credit card to start out with.

So you lost this information, and now I am left red face at a till, after being for 4 months on the waiting list for the iWatch of my choice (a watch I will now loose as one only has 2 days to buy your watch before they make it available to the next person in line)

Then the total incompetence started:

Your call centre agent had to verify me. This was unsuccessful because I failed to answer the verification questions correctly. Those were referring to my address and work related telephone numbers. When I inspected the website, I realised that all of that information was either captured inaccurately from my application form (which remembered included the proof of residence) or for some odd reason, lifted information from a past medical aid product I had when I was still a main member 8 or so years ago. Regardless, it was not entered from the application documents.

For instance – you excluded the estate name from my physical and postal address. Therefore I was deemed “wrong” when confirming my address, including a reference to the Estate name.

Also, you had a 012 ********** number as my home number. Firstly I live in the Western Cape not Pretoria, and secondly that number does not exist. You also had 082 ********** as my work number. Again a number that does not exist, and I have no idea where you these from, as it is not referenced on my application form at all.

I expect an official apology from Discovery, and a re-activation of my credit card status immediately as I am convinced that you have all the necessary documentation. If you insist that I submit new Proof of Residence information, I expect a refund of the last 4 months’ worth of bank charges as you then never had the right to have the account open and active.
