FALSENESS

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration regarding my recent credit card application experience with Discovery. Despite initially being informed by a representative that I was approved for a credit card with a limit of R750, I subsequently received an email declining my application and requesting an affordability statement. This contradictory communication is unacceptable.

I remind Discovery that I was led to believe I would receive a credit card, and I rely on the benefits it offers, including rewards and savings at various retailers like Checkers, Sixty60, Pick n Pay, Dischem, Clicks, and fueling up.

In light of this, I request that Discovery reconsider my application and grant me the credit card as initially approved. I expect a higher level of service from Discovery and prompt resolution to this matter.

Please confirm in writing that you will honor the initial approval and provide it within the next 7-10 business days. I look forward to hearing from you soon."

Good day Lucy,

We have investigated your query. Please note that the R 750 credit was pre-approved pending verification. When the documents were uploaded and verified, the application was declined because you are not in good standing at the moment. We trust that the above clarifies the matter; however, please feel free to contact us should you require further assistance.
Should you require assistance with any other bank-related queries, please contact our bankers 24/7 on ***(toll-free).

Have a good day further.

Regards,
Gezae'

Best regards,

Good day Gazae,

Thank you for your response, however I can't accept the decision as the person who called told me I was granted a credit limit of R750 only as I wanted a limit of R5000 but he said depending on my payment behaviour I can then work up my credit limit from there. I insist you listen to the call recording and urgently request a copy of the call as I am aware all calls are recorded.

Look forward to your urgent response in this matter!

Lucille

Good day,Kindly take note that I submitted my payslips and I was declined again. This is totally unacceptable as I was told by the person who called me that I was approved for R750 only because I app**** for R5000 limit. This is totally crazy and I cannot believe that this is the way a bank operates. I've reached out multiple times for assistance, in addition to that it can clearly be seen what income goes into my account as well as foreign currencies on a weekly basis.I will be closing my account and moving to another bank and I deeply regret letting one of my salaries go into discovery.I am not asking for much, only a credit card to be able to qualify for the savings as my current account does not qualify for it.I really can't believe this is done to people, telling them they're approved them declining them, I asked for the recorded phone call as I know you record the calls and up until now I have not received it, that spells nothing but deceipt.Call received 7 October 2024 at 13:30. Can I please have a copy of the recorded phone call?Regards Lucille
