Discriminating on pregnancy.

Travel booster is based on 3 months credit card spend and "Your medical scheme claims level over the past calendar year, which is based on your Health Plan and family size".

They were provided with this information from both my current medical aid and their own Discovery health.

They decided to use 2016 claims history in order to deny providing the relevant discount. Not only that, in assessing the claims history I have been labelled an extremely high claimer at R50k claimed in 2016 - when I had a baby. R30k of these expenses are from an uncomplicated childbirth, leaving a debatable R20k in claims that puts us on level 4 claimants - again majority of which are pregnancy related.

According to their own documentation claims for childbirth without complications would not be considered in calculating the claims level. I wonder how they decided against my family?

It is also convenient that they have used 2016 claims even though 2017 (for the calendar year) data is available to them? I wonder how family composition is app****? Or is this also up in the air?

I believe I have been discriminated against.

Thank you for your comment.

As per our telephonic conversation I have reviewed your Travel Booster benefit percentage. The discount percentage is already loaded on your profile. I apologise for the error on our end as pregnancy and pregnancy related claims should be excluded for the Travel Booster benefit.

Best Regards
