Discovery miles Wicode error in store

<p>Attempted to use my Discovery miles to purchase in store at Cape Union Mart on 17 August but the code generated by the Discovery app was rejected by the Cape till point stating my account had been deactivated. Ended up looking foolish at the till point in front of other customers as I left without my items. Called Discovery the same day and waited over 7 minutes before the call was answered (from my mobile phone). Eventually after about 17 minutes on the call the consultant advised me it could take weeks to resolve this error but he would escalate the issue for a faster resolution. An entire day (18th) has gone by and no one has got back to me (and I cannot get my item which is on sale for a limited period). If this is the SLA on an escalation then Discovery is in a sad state of affairs. </p> <p> </p> <p>In any event, I cannot understand how it could take weeks to resolve an issue like this which should not take more than a few hours to resolve. It seems that redeeming Discovery miles in store is not stable enough and if so, Discovery should stop advertising this option until it is working and they are able to provide faster support to clients and save them from embarassment. In my case the wicode was successfully generated by the app yet I was still asked if I had the latest version of the app and my android version which does not make sense if a code was generated (confirmation the transaction was successful to convert the miles).</p> <p> </p> <p>My advice to others who want to try and redeem their Discovery miles instore is do it when the store is quiet to save yourself from embarassment if the code is not accepted by the store computer.</p>

Discovery contacted me quickly to try and resolve the issue. I later found out that Discovery Miles cannot be redeemed in store at Cape Union mart (the Discovery consultant should have informed me) and therefore the error was returned when the wicode was redeemed in store.

I'm changing my rating to 4 star because they investigated quickly after my complaint and contacted me with the status. For my wasted time (2 days), embarassment and mobile calls of approximately 17 minutes (approximately R30) all they could offer me was an apology.

In this reply I will offer Discovery another solution (have given them one solution already in a previous complaint) to advise customers in my situation : go online to Cape Union Mart, use Discovery Miles to purchase a Cape Union Mart voucher (which is emailed immediately) and use the voucher to purchase in store at Cape Union Mart (which is what I did today).
