Discovery Debacle
Today being the 5th of the a fixed debit on my credit card was rejected and I was notified by email and sms. I found this strange as the debit order went of my bank account on 1 March and I was notified the funds had been received by FNB. On the sms I was asked to contact the call centre which i duely did. I spoke to Sepho Shika and queried as to why the debit had been rejected. She informed me that the funds go to FNB who take 4 days to pass it on to Discovery Card during that time the card is frozen. Then I asked why the debit had gone off so late as they normally process it on the 30th of the month but because it is a short month THEY decided to put the debit through on the 1st which has messed everything up and I will now incur a charge for a rejected payment. I was quite irrate and asked the lady to put a note that the rejected payment was no fault of mine which she informed me could not be done. Out of this experience I have decided to move the debit to another card to avoid a repeat but one has some unanswered questions 1 Why dies it take 4 days to get from FNB to Discovery someone is getting interest on the funds 2. Who is GOD that decides to pick a random date to change the debit order people have been paid their salaries irrespective of whether it is a short month or not 3 This is a great racket to generate extra revenue for the bank by bouncing payments when they have customers cash
In summing up we point fingers at government for *******ion but I dont think the banks are far behind they take no responsibility for anything and just charge the consumer
