Discovery Card charges illegitimate fees and makes card closure impossible

Please beware of banking with Discovery. I tried to cancel my card last year June when a rep phoned me and told me I should keep it open as they will no longer be charging fees until I transfer to their banking. After 2 months of not charging fees, they suddenly started again in November. I have tried to cancel my card and get a refund on the incorrect fees since December. I have phoned them at least seven times. Spoken to customer representatives, managers, etc. While they take my call, they always say "Sorry mam, that is another department - we'll get back to you." But they don't. They don't call back, they don't answer my emails - all they do is charge me more fees. I am on R790 of ******* fees they have charged and there is nothing I can do about it. DO NOT BANK WITH DISCOVERY. They are ********* and will charge you fees you never agreed to and then not close your card. After spending hours trying to fight this, I see no choice but to pay the fees and suffer the losses. What a sad experience. Please beware.
