Discovery cannot control a payment
I am extremely disappointed with discovery bank, I made a payment not long ago where the website told me that the payment could not be processed however on my discovery app I got a authorisation pop-up and the payment was processed on my account.
This was obviously an error on the website that happened as I have used this place before, the website is pearson vue for writing exams etc.
So knowing an error occured and the payment is sitting on pending I contacted discovery to cancel or reverse the payment so I can redo it and all they tell me is that I have to wait 7 days to do something or they need something from the merchant to show that the payment can be reversed.
So my bank won't do a damn thing and I cannot get something from PearsonVue to say this was a failure. This is ridiculous!
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
As advised, unfortunately we are unable to dispute a transaction when it is pending. A pending transaction is a payment that has been authorized but not yet cleared by the merchant.
In an instance that you experienced a network issue or any issue on the merchant's site, you need to raise the issue with the said merchant. The transaction will bounce back into your account if the merchant doesn't bank within 7 working days. However, should it bank that's when we will be able to dispute as it will be reflecting in the merchants account.
I hope this clears up any confusion in this regard.
Kind Regards,

The only matter of confusion here is why you cannot intervene and stop this,

I completely understand the frustration and inconvenience this situation may have caused, and I sincerely apologise.
Please be assured that it’s not that the bank is unwilling to assist you — rather, we are currently unable to reverse or dispute a transaction while it is still in a pending state, as it has not yet been fully processed by the merchant.
We need to wait for the transaction to either clear or be reversed, especially given the system issues you experienced. If the transaction does not reverse once it clears, we will then be able to initiate a dispute on your behalf.
At this stage, we are unfortunately unable to stop or cancel the transaction while it remains pending.
