Discovery Bank - Unacceptable Service Levels

This is not a rant. This is a genuine attempt to bring to light the absolutely shocking service that Discovery Bank consistently serves up. Hopefully, this complaint draws some attention which results in a more pleasant experience for someone else. On the 6th of June 2023, I purchased some equipment from a store. I requested the cashier to allocate the purchase to the budget facility on my credit card, for a period of 60 months. All was good it seemed. After receiving my statement from Discovery a while later, I noticed that the amount to be paid at month's end seemed very high. After some inquiries, it came to light that the transaction on the 6th had in fact been put through by the cashier on straight and not budget. I requested from Discovery telephonically on the 9th of June, that the balance be transferred to my budget facility. The agent told me she had sent the request through, or escalated it, I'm not sure which one, to the relevant department. I subsequently paid the amount at month-end, despite it being considerably higher than what I had planned for. Fast forward to now, the 4th of July. Out of curiosity, I checked my Discovery Bank App to see what my new month-end payment was going to be, and discovered that my budget facility was still showing no amount - in fact, it was not active at all. I again called Discovery to find out what was going on - why my request had not been actioned. The agent told me that my initial request on the 9th of June to move the transaction to the budget facility had come too late as the statement had already been issued, and had been denied by the relevant department. He said that I would need to re-request to have it transferred, but I had again missed the 'window' because the statements had closed. This would mean I need to pay another payment which was much higher than anticipated at this month-end. This, quite frankly, I find unacceptable! If my initial request had been denied, why had nobody bothered to inform me that I needed to again call in and re-request for it to be done? How on earth was I supposed to know that? The latter agent said that the former agent had told me to 'check' that this request had in fact been actioned. This is a complete lie! I have a recording of the initial conversation, and nothing like that was said. In any event, why had my request not simply been delayed until the 'window' of opportunity had come around again? Why must I, as a customer, have to re-request this simple task? Now it has been escalated again! This time to the COMPLAINTS department. By the way, the complaints department has up to 21 days turnaround time to call back. Quite ridiculous. Time and time again, Discovery Bank has treated me with complete disdain instead of treating me like a valued customer. Any of the other four banks I have accounts with would have actioned this immediately - with no questions asked. Discovery Bank has an insatiable need to mine for information and has prioritized technology over simple customer service. Be warned - they have lost touch with the basics and you are nothing but an I.D. number to them.
