Discovery Bank Should Not Be Trusted with Your Money

In exactly one month, Discovery Bank has blocked my account twice! Both times for absolutely no valid reason.

The first incident was on the 2nd of September. Their excuse? Because I was a victim of a smash-and-grab back in April/May, they decided to block my new account months later. Four to five months later, your ***** department suddenly wakes up and shuts down my access to my own money? Completely unacceptable.

The second incident was today. Discovery deducts money from my account numerous times a month for the revolving credit. I have never had to manually make this payment myself — they always debit it automatically. Yet this morning, after the debit went off as usual, they blocked all my accounts and claimed I was supposed to pay it over manually. Do they even know what they are doing?

To make matters worse, each time they eventually unblock my account, I lose all my rewards — with no explanation or compensation. So not only do they restrict my money, but they also strip me of the benefits I have earned.

They treat customers’ money like a game, restricting access without reason and then hiding behind a standard “apology for the inconvenience caused.” On the 2nd of September, I had to call my husband to bring cash just to put fuel in my car, because Discovery had locked me out of my own account for no reason. Who gives them the right to play around with people’s hard-earned money?

And that’s not all. Countless times while shopping, I’ve had to face the embarrassment of Discovery being “offline” at the till, with a line of people behind me.

Being a Discovery Bank client has been an absolute nightmare. I will never recommend Discovery Bank to anyone.

I’ll look into the matter urgently and get back to you as soon as I have more information.
