DISCOVERY BANK NO CONCERN FOR THE EVERY DAY MAN ON THE STREET

Please be careful when dealing with Discovery when you have both and Transact and a credit facility with them. My husband has both and is currently unemployed. The accounts have been running separately since opened and now we have been told they are linked accounts and that any funds paid into the account will automatically be transferred to the Credit facility even if arrangements have been made to pay off the credit facility separately. The account is locked for any other transactions. My husband just received the UIF payment and now unable to use this money to pay for the day to day living since this is the first UIF payment received and besides having to put food on the table and keep the electricity with the little received from UIF Discovery have now decided to hold this money even though an arrangement was made to pay off the credit card. And the attitude you get from the service agent is that you must borrow from someone to get update with the credit card payment in order for them to release the funds. Even when explained that the money is needed to live they do not care even with the payment arrangement made funds will not be released. Be very careful dealing with Discovery Bank

Hi Laurelle

Thanks for reaching out to us, we appreciate your feedback.

Your husband has a full banking suite, this means that he is paying a bundled fee for both his Credit Card account and Transaction Account. The accounts can both have separate cards and function separately, however they are a bundled package meaning they influence each other.

A payment was received, but this was insufficient. As advised by our skilled Bankers, our Collections team won't remove the lock due to the account being in arrears.

Best regards,
Mpho

Good day Mpho
The credit card was app**** for separately and was not originally bundled. Discovery took it upon themselves to bundle the account.

An arrangement was made to pay off the Credit card of at R500 per month until he has found employment. So basically the arrangement means nothing so what the point of confirming same it it is not honored.

Please also note that one of your consultants had the audacity to tell my husband to borrow money from a relative to pay the the outstanding. What kind of service is that.

You have locked the account even with arrangement made to pay off the account. We as a family were relying on the funds received from UIF to make it through the month. Which now is impossible because Discovery has basically taken it upon themselves to decide that we do not need this money to live.

Hi Laurelle

As advised unfortunately the Collections team will not remove the lock placed on the account due to a short payment.

We do see a complaints case with our team, they have provided more information regarding this query from our complaints team.

For any further details that your husband may have, could he as the primary account holder contact our team on our toll free number ***.

Best regards,
