Discovery bank - ***** line does not woring after hours

Both my husband and I are Discovery Bank customers with separate accounts. My husband lost his phone yesterday at the Voortrekker monument, and by the time he got home and could trace his phone via Google, it was already in a building in Atteridgeville. Even though he had IT assistance from my son to reset the phone remotely to factory settings, he called the number for the ***** line. He held on for 17 minutes, with the intermittent Discovery messages that had him thinking he was in a queue. No one answered. He then tried the international number, hoping someone would respond - of course same problem. I would like to know what the problem was - if there was a problem with the telephone line, Discovery should be proactive and send out messages (like they do with hail storms) and let their customers know they have a problem with phone lines. Do they not have enough staff to answer the phones after hours? Has their number changed, because my husband looked up the number for the ***** line on the internet? Why do they even bother with these telephone lines? ******* do not ***** phones during banking hours. If one can only communicate via telephone, app or bot, and the phone has been ******, I would like to suggest that Discovery create a system where I, for instance, get prior permission from my husband (with his separate account) to block his Discovery account via my Discovery phone app.
