Discovery bank - Just not good enough
I deeply regret moving my personal account to Discovery Bank. They are clearly too green to compete with legacy institutions, favoring "flashy" tech over functional banking and common sense.
Two primary issues in a single week have made my experience a nightmare:
*********** Credit Assessment: I requested a credit limit increase based on a solid one-year lease agreement. Discovery refused to recognize the income because there are "only" 4/5 months remaining on the term. Disregarding a legal twelve-month contract because it is currently being fulfilled is the most illogical credit policy I have ever encountered.
The "Selfie" Death Loop: Their facial recognition technology is fundamentally broken. After the app failed, support told me to delete and reinstall it. However, you cannot re-register without a selfie—which the app refuses to capture. I have spent over an hour being passed between call agents and the ***** department because their own tech doesn't work. The issue remains unresolved.
Discovery Bank is an ecosystem of frustration. If they can’t handle a simple credit extension or a basic app update, it makes me question the reliability of my medical aid decisions with them as well.
I sincerely apologize for the frustration you’ve experienced.
