Discovery Bank is utterly useless!

Never experienced such utterly disgusting service arising from really poor sighted close-minded mediocracy. App**** for a product with this useless bank and was declined, but get, this not due to affordability or poor conduct or any reason that warrants a decline or that makes any sense, no, I was declined because this bank and its credit managers don't have a working understanding of debt service ratio and debt to income ratios. So, this is how the discussion went, we are not concerned with your affordability, in fact comfortable you can afford it, we just unsettled by your debt to income ratio. So I questioned the concern, and get this the ratio is way below and I mean way below the average ratio of the South African household of 66.10%. Mind I am an existing Discovery customer, insurance, medical aid and vitality products for 7 plus years, and they saying whilst you can afford the product we trying to find means to tell you, we don't want you as a customer. So cancelling every single product with Discovery, thank you for opening my eyes Discovery Bank!

Thank you Andile, much appreciated. All the same, the die is cast and Discovery has just lost a customer, as mentioned cancelling everything and taking business to where it is appreciated.

Again, clearly missing the point here, high utilisation of facilities has no bearing on ability to service one's debt which you as a bank indicated is not a concern. The reliance on the "utilisation of credit limit" as an excuse just makes my point, people take out credit to make use of it, it is the ability to repay said credit that should be considered and given that affordability was not an issue it is clear that the bank needed to make an excuse and you should have definitely come up with a better excuse. All that translates to is you do not want my business, thus, don't worry, as mentioned taking my business elsewhere!

FYI within one day I have already been approved at another bank for a much higher limit clearly confirming that my credit score is healthy, confirming yet again Discovery is not business savvy and clearly comfortable to lose a customer. Cutting of your nose to spite your face, such foolish business behavior!
