Discovery bank in too much of a rush to hand out credit cards

When I opened an account with Discovery, they rushed my application so fast, they were so desperate to sell me a credit card.

Discovery remembers your details on the app, and I had started an application a year before, and not completed it. I had used a previous surname. I wasn't able to change it (or indeed even check the data I had previously entered!), and I had thought I was just checking different card options. Before I was aware what was happening, they were posting a credit card to me.

I immediately asked them to cancel this, and that I wanted to have time to select the card option I wanted, and also mentioned that the name on my newly created account was clearly wrong.

After three calls with different consultants, including one on a Sunday of over an hour, all advised me that I simply had to wait for the card to arrive, upload my ID to show that my name had changed, and then they would change my name on the system. Following all that admin burden to me, they then said I should simply "request a new card" on my app. When I did that, I was charged a fee despite being told I wouldn't be.

I have since then called two agents, and sent an email. This started over a month ago. I haven't had any response yet. I really think this is daylight *******. Totally *********.

Reviewer Update
It is now 28 March (2.5 weeks since your first email, and over a month since my first enquiry). The charge is still showing on my account. How long does it take for your complaints team to sort out something so trivial?
