Discovery Bank Charges

I opened an account in 2021 with this bank. Used the account a few times and forgot about it and like any other bank account you would expect them to automatically close the account because of no usage after six months. I recently see if i can still log in and maybe change from FNB to Discovery bank and to my surprise i logged in and saw an amount that i owe them of R5500. So they kept on charging me banking fees since the time i stopped using the account in 2021 till now in 2023.

I called the call center and they said sorry, even if you left the country and not using your account they will keep on charging you banking cost until you close the account.

I think there is a law with the NCA regarding this because this is *****ing.

I have sent the request to have the accumulated fees reversed and I am awaiting feedback from management and I will share feedback as soon as I get it.

Hi,

They did send me an email but they say that it is in there T and C's that they will be charging bank fees until you close the account.

Meaning that even when you out of the country and return after 5 years your account will be charged.

So in other words, read your T and C's...

This should be against the law what they are doing.
