Discovery Bank - Beware they create situations through their bank app to take your money!!!

This is the worst Bank. It creates situations that if you transfer your rewards then it cannot be used. You then create another account and then the same happens there again. Each time you transfer the bank takes money. This while you are attempting to purchase something and the transaction is declined. You are then blocked, as possible *****. Discovery is the one committing ***** as the bank uses this procedure to charge each unsuccessful transaction to their benefit while you the client loses on each attempt!!!!!! They then take all you cash in the account generated via your awards. This is R1000s more than your R21.07 ***** transaction declines......Discovery check my transaction history and share it with everyone so they can see....await your response....

Let me correct you around how it worked on my side. To use your discovery miles earned you must convert it to cash by opening an account with Discovery Bank. This I did only to find when you want to do the transaction the account cannot be used. Not knowing this you try the transaction again and again each time it is declined and a charge to that. Then you are contacted by the ***** line as the account is blocked, this while you are at the till attempt to pay. You then told to transfer the cash into another Discovery account which you must open and the transaction fails again. Remember you are creating virtual cards. Non are working....So, my irritation is I don't want all these accounts as i only need one account to use my Discovery Miles. Why must I now pay bank fees in an account that I was advised to open to do a transaction going nowhere. Listen to your recordings in November when this all occurred. Your ***** line phoned me! Now I have a message on my Discovery Bank Portfolio - Not eligible for bank rewards an error on your side... own up and fix it!!!!

Hi Michael.

Thanks for clarifying.

You do not need to monetize your Miles in order to use them, they can be redeemed directly at our Vitality Mall.

Please note that when choosing to monetize your Miles on the Discovery Bank app, you will be given the option to select which account you would like the funds to be credited to. Please note that all our transactional accounts are linked to savings accounts. These savings accounts are free and carry no monthly fees. The account you currently hold has no monthly fees, however, charges may apply for declined transactions and EFTs out of the account. For more details, please refer to our fee guide: Discovery Account Fees Guide.

To avoid declined transaction fees, please ensure that your account is not locked and that sufficient funds are available in the account linked to your card.

Please also note that if an account is not in good standing, rewards connected to it will not be available. Once the account balance is restored and the account returns to good standing, rewards will once again be accessible.

Kind regards,
The Discovery Bank Team.

Hi Michael.

Yes there was R4111.00 available in the account on 8 November 2025.

Yes, you did try to transact on 8 November 2025.

The transaction declined due to insufficient funds, the transaction that declined was R10 799.90, and you had an available balance of R4111.00.

As advised before, declined transactions come with a fee.

Yes, you tried to use the funds again on 15 November 2025.

The transaction declined due to insufficient funds, as you transferred the funds out to your savings account on 08/11/2025 to account ending with 1246.

On 16 November 2025 you transferred all the funds out, there was a fee for the immediate transaction of R20.52.

Kind regards,
The Discovery Bank Team.

Side stepping and justifying discovery banks non service.
As indicated my rewards were converted to cash. The bill was split to pay what was available in the account and use my other bank for the difference.
So do you need to see the full amount paid from my ABSA account....not a question of I did not have funds for the transaction!!
Bottom line I don't want anything to do with your busuness practise and instructe discovery to close this account with immediate effect!!

Hi Michael.

The transaction that was initiated on your Discovery Bank account was for R10,799.90, which is why it was declined. Unfortunately, we are unable to advise on a bill that the merchant was supposed to split.

We completely understand the frustration this situation may have caused and sincerely regret the inconvenience. To confirm, would you like us to proceed with closing your Discovery Bank account?

Kind regards,
The Discovery Bank Team.
