Discovery Bank app a colossal disappointment!
I've been a loyal Discovery client for years. I work in IT, so when Discovery phoned me and encouraged me to join their bank, I downloaded their banking app and tried to register. The app sucks! I installed it on my Huawei P30 and tried to follow the prompts to register, but the app hung for extended periods and I had to restart it several times to get it going again. After a long battle, I finally managed to take a selfie (Discovery insisted on integrating facial recognition as a security step), and I also took snaps of my driver's licence and my ID book. Then at last, when presented with a choice of three types of account, I picked an account type and the app promptly hung again, showing nothing but a spinner. I reinstalled it and opened it again, and was again presented with a button to JOIN THE BANK! I tapped on it and provided my ID number and cell number - AGAIN! The app asked me to take a selfie - AGAIN! Several attempts and several spinners later, the app informed me that my selfie didn't match their records and now it's sticking to that story! I phoned Discovery and they put me through to Discovery Bank's call centre - where no-one picked up! I eventually ****ed the call and uninstalled the app. Ironically, all of this transpired while I was watching Adrian Gore give a reassuring presentation of Discovery's financial results on BDTV. What a colossal disappointment! I guess I won't be joining Discovery Bank any time soon.
