Discovery Bank App *****
Good day All, I’ve been a victim of ***** on my Discovery Bank account. After downloading an airline app, *****sters gained access to my phone and wiped out R9,300 from my Vitality Savings Account—after first transferring R390 from my credit card to enable the withdrawal. But the real issue? Discovery Bank’s response. I reported the ***** at 3pm on a Saturday. The money was still within Discovery Bank, yet they delayed assigning an investigator until Thursday. By then, the funds had moved to ABSA, and later into a trading account—beyond recovery. Only after escalating via email was I told to open a police case and submit an affidavit. That should’ve been done immediately. Had they acted when the funds were still internal, recovery would’ve been possible. Discovery claims I accessed the app using my fingerprint during the *****. I was busy with the airline app—why would I open my banking app then? No ***** insurance. No urgency. No accountability. If my salary had been in that account, I’d be financially stranded. I’m now moving all my Discovery products—Medical Aid, Life Cover, Bank Accounts, Notice Accounts, and Insurance—out. Capitec, also on my phone, wasn’t breached. That says something. 💡 Lesson: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Big brands must protect their clients—not just their profits. #DiscoveryBank #*****Alert #ConsumerRights #SouthAfrica #BankSecurity #Capitec.
