Denied Refund of R7736 Due to *****ulent Activity and Negligence by Discovery Bank

An unauthorized transaction occurred on my account on 10 September 2024. This matter has caused me significant financial distress, and I believe the *****ulent act could have been prevented had Discovery bank provided better security and acted swiftly upon my attempts to raise concerns.

In addition to the security lapses that allowed this transaction to take place, I must express my disappointment with the response I received from Discovery Bank's ***** department. I made multiple attempts to contact the department regarding this issue and requested updates on the investigation, but my calls and emails were either ignored or inadequately addressed. This lack of communication and transparency greatly exacerbated the situation, delaying any meaningful action and leaving my account vulnerable.

My key concerns are as follows:

Inadequate Security Measures: Despite my diligence in safeguarding my account information, the *****ulent transaction was still processed. I believe that the bank's security protocols were insufficient in preventing this unauthorized access.

Negligence by the ***** Department: When I first reported this suspicious activity, I expected immediate action and regular updates. However, my multiple calls and requests for feedback were met with delayed or unsatisfactory responses, which I believe hindered the investigation and resolution process. Furthermore, after numerous calls on my behalf, I was informed last week by an investigator from the ***** department that Discovery Bank does not have a complaints process and I should contact the ombudsman.

Delayed Intervention: The ***** department’s lack of timely action not only prolonged my financial loss but also contributed to my feeling of insecurity with the bank’s services. I believe quicker, more proactive communication could have mitigated this situation.

The failure of both Discovery Bank's security measures and the negligence of the ***** department resulted in my loss of R7736.
