Credit card charging while being cancelled

My dad cancelled his credit card on 15/03/2017. However interest has been charged every month. He is no longer working and he has advised. He went to FNB several times to get assistance. Discovery Call Centre have been contacted and confirmed on all occasions that card has been cancelled. He is getting sms's that says he is owing and interest is accumulating.

Reference number: RP ********** 0610. Can someone please intervene.

Thank you Jaco for your quick response and assistance. I have spoken to him and he advised that he was given another ref# to take to the bank to cancel even though it was confirmed to him that it has been cancelled. Is there any reason why he is supposed to go to the bank? Regards Shamza
