Card Blocked due to no FICA documentation

Good day,

I app**** for a Discovery Credit Card.

It was approved and I was contacted by the CCD couriers to inform me that my card will be delivered on the 10th of May 2017. They also informed me that they will not hand over the card without the following documentation: proof of residence and a certified copy of my ID.

On the morning of the 10th of May 2017 they delivered my card and I had to hand over the above mentioned documents.
I received a sms on the 16th of May 2017 stating that I had to email my proof of residence and certified copy of my ID to Discovery otherwise my account will be suspended.
I phoned Discovery the same day to query why they wanted me to send the same documentation again, after I handed it over to the courier. The consultant informed me that they have not yet received the papers from the courier, but he sent a request to CCD to send the papers through. He said that on receipt of the paperwork, it will take 4 working days to unfreeze the account.

On the 19th of May 2017 I received an email from Discovery stating that my account has been frozen until I send through my documents. I phoned Discovery yet again to question why the account has been frozen after I queried the problem earlier that week. The consultant apologised and said they still have not yet received it from the courier and they logged another query to receive the documentation.

It has now been 12 working days and I have not received feedback from Discovery, the account is still frozen and the courier company is still in possession of the documentation.
This is unacceptable. Keeping documentation with confidential information and not handing it over to Discovery is theft. I fail to see why I had to hand over confidential information to a third party, otherwise I would not receive the card, just so that they can keep the documentation and not bother sending it on to Discovery.

Discovery can not expect card holders to hand over documentation with confidential information to third parties that are not trustworthy and reliable.

I will not resend any of the documentation.
