Banking was better before it was turned on its side - I could actually transact! Clearly premature launch...

What was meant to be a simple migration from Discovery Card to Discovery Bank has been a catastrophe to say the least.

The app just says "Your application is in progress", despite it not even being an application and that my new card has been delivered more than a week ago! After the first few phone calls we managed to establish that apparently a duplicate order was created and the system detects the order instead of recognising that I'm an existing client that has already received both the primary and secondary replacement cards. The result is that I can't activate the cards, can't use the app or do anything.

I've spent several hundred Rand on no less than eleven phone calls, patiently trying to have the matter resolved over more than a week now without ever raising my voice or being rude to any of the consultants, but still no success. Apparently all that needs to happen is that the duplicate order needs to be deleted. The issue has "been escalated" several times, I've been contacted by a manager more than twice, but the fact remains a basic issue can't be resolved and the I cannot use the product at all.

As a loyal Discovery and Discovery Card client of many years I've always been a Discovery brand advocate. I was excited to migrate to Discovery Bank, but the bank clearly launched prematurely, without stable and reliable systems, without the ability to solve basic customer issues. The customer service team have gotten back to me, and clearly have the best intentions but the reality is that they don't have sufficient technical support to help their customers.

I'm honestly dreading what lies ahead. Banking is about trust. If a simple issue like this can't be resolved in more than a week, what will happen when I encounter a more serious issue that actually involves a transaction, like making a payment, setting up a debit order, receiving a payment, or dealing with ********** activity on my account?

Yet, here we are. Fourteen days after receiving my card this simple migration still is not complete and my problem still has not been solved. I still just see a "Your application is in progress" screen, even though it is not even an application.

Good Day Dewald.

Thank you for taking my call.

As discussed the duplicate application has been deleted, and you are now able to login on the Bank app and activated your account.

Kind regards
Nicole Sarlie

Hi Nicole,

Yes I was finally able to login on the Bank app and activate my account, and the migration was completed on the weekend, thank you.

The app has only worked for three days. Since yesterday I can once again not login, now I get a message saying I'm not eligible to migrate and that's that - I can't do anything. So, I've yet again started with the call centre this morning. The call centre yet again could not resolve the problem, so I've yet again had to send all the screenshots to the service email address.

So not only do I now find out that I longer have the Discovery Miles benefit, which was probably one of the greatest ones, I also find out that I can't link my Discovery Bank profile to 22seven to manage with the rest of my financial life because Discovery Bank doesn't even have a website yet.

I'm really at a loss for words, all I can say at this stage beyond being very disappointed is that I'm grateful that I have kept my transactional account with a real bank.
