Bank charges and fees accrued on supposedly closed account
I have closed my account with Discovery Bank as at the end of June 2023. I have phoned numerous times to the call center and confirmed that my account is in the process of being closed, as I could not see my accounts on my suite anymore. Now, this morning I receive an email that I still owe money on my Discovery account, this after I have been under the impression for a month that the account had been closed. Can this be resolved please? I am not keen on paying R320 for an account that I did not use for the past month, under the impression that it has already been closed down... To be honest, it is unacceptable to expect me to pay...
I have received a mail on 28 June from Tracy Brown, on which I have responded, but did not even receive a response again, thereby I considered that the matter had been closed, but clearly this is not the case.
May you please resolve this and reverse the bank charges and other costs accrued for July, as I am not intent on paying for something I closed already at the end of June.
The initial account closure that you initiated on 24 June 2023 was logged successfully. However to complete the account closure, you need to pay the settlement amount that is emailed to you, within the advised date or the account would remain open.
Since the settlement amount was paid after the advised time, which was the 28 June 2023, and the payment only came into your account on 29 June 2023. The account remained open.
There was an email that was sent advising this.
Best regards,
Mpho
