I recently upgraded existing Discovery Card to a Platinum card. This involves issue of a new card and current balance transfered to the new card. This also means that a new PIN is issued. Usually that is delivered via courier in registered post and secure mail item. (in line with the golden principle of NEVER SHARING YOUR PIN WITH ANYONE). This is not the case with the Platinum card, the paperwork that came with the card asked me to log onto either [URL Removed] or [URL Removed] to get your new PIN, which I duly did, only to discover (pardon the pun) that you need to have your PIN to register for the online banking platform! Duh!?!

So I did the next best thing, phone the call centre, where the consultant duly informed me that they were experiencing problems with the issuing of the PIN process (moving away from FNB or something). So she says they will get the PIN envelope from FNB, a consultant will give me a call, and read the PIN to me over the phone! I questioned her as to the safety of doing it this way, at which point she became annoyed and said they can mail it to me and it will take 14 WORKING DAYS!

Platinum service! I think not
Best regards,
