Unhappy Dischem customer

I purchased a Tresemme Ceramic Styler 230 straightening iron from Dischem on 26 January 2018. I hardly make use of the iron. At least once a week or every two weeks as I blow dry my hair as well.

Yesterday (11 April 2018) I went into Dischem promenade mall and asked if I could return the iron as it caused such a lot of breakage and fries my hair. I use protective products and have used many brands of irons before this one. I do not expect GHD quality for a product I paid R495.00 for but I know when a product is damaging my hair. I was told I can not return unless the item is faulty by Mark at the information counter.

To my understanding as per the returns policy ( https://dischem.co.za/returns-and-refunds ) I am able to return and online purchase within 6 months. "If you are for any reason dissatisfied with an item purchased from our Online Store, you may return it to any Dis-Chem store for a full refund, replacement or exchange, provided you have the original tax invoice, and items are returned within 6 (six) months of purchase, provided that the product has not expired within such time."

I have the original packaging as well as my slip. The item still looks as good as new. It is not a very good product and it was my intention to return it and get me a hairdryer at the same store.

I would love to get some feedback.
