Unfair customer service from Dis-Chem

I went to Dischem Menlyn on the 1st of April 2023 and when I was about to pay baby's items, I asked the cashier if I will be eligible to receive a baby bag because my items were more that a thousand rand. And also asked her if I have to fill any form in order to register for the bag and she said NO, as long as I am using my reward card the baby bag will automatically be generated on their system. She said they will send me a message. Now that I have already purchased things worth R1200, I am being told that I have to buy things AGAIN for R1000 because at first I wasn't registered. Like how😡because I got wrong information from Dischem staff. This is not fair at all. Is this some business marketing tricks?
