The price you show should be the price I pay, 1st time around.
As you are one of 2 retailers of choice for my cosmetics, toiletries, and wellness-type products, I want to vent my frustration, further to my shopping experience at Table Bay Mall yesterday. This is disappointingly not the 1st time that this has happened and sometimes I just let it slip. Often because I have only noticed once I’m home and it’s too much of a bother to turn back.
When stock is being rung up, I am unable to see the pricing which is going through on the teller’s screen and often a promo price isn’t captured. Yesterday, it happened again. I purchased 2 coconut milk/creams which were on promo. When I left the store, I checked my receipt only to see that I had been charged the original price.
I went straight back into the store, took a quick photo of the promo poster, headed for your “consumer care desk” and then proceeded to waste almost 30 min for this to be sorted out. Yes, it was only R6.00, but it was the point. I purchased the products because they were on a promo. Only to find that they were in fact even cheaper at one of the other retailers I shopped at later.
Firstly, I am perplexed by how the consumer is made to feel like a ******** when you query a price. This was not my mistake. I had a lady next to me with the same issue on a mouthwash, because she had not read the small print which had advised that it was variant specific. I felt quite embarrassed for her.
In the past, at certain retailers, where pricing on-shelf was incorrect, the consumer would be given the product for free – that’s not what I’m expecting, but if it means that the individual stores take ownership for loading the correct pricing, then maybe that’s what’s required…Table Bay is not the only store where this has happened.
Oh, and please can the person in charge of looking after and nurturing the consumer relationship be given some training. The tellers are all friendly and polite.
