Refusal to exchange goods under guarantee

In October 2014 my husband purchased me a Wahl hair Iron as a gift at Dis-Chem TheGlen. I have been using it since and one morning while I was busy using it, the cord became dislodged from the iron. I went to Dis-Chem Southgate to exchange the hair iron and was assisted by Bonginkosi who claimed to be the assistant manager. He blatantly refused to exchange the hair iron and instead accused me of cutting off the cord myself, he humiliated me in front of his colleagues as well as the other customers in the shop. Why would I cut my own hair iron`s cord just to have it replaced for the same item again ??? Later on he tells me why don't I take it back to the store I bought it from, the fact remains I purchased it from Dis-Chem and I can exchange it at any dis-Chem store. He had no regard for the way he addressed us and had a don't care attitude about the way he spoke to us, he just couldn't be bothered. If this matter is not resolved I swear to take it further even if I have to take it up with Radio702 as well. I am utterly disgusted by the type of customer service I received. All I can say its peutrate.
