Poor service from Dischem Pharmacy
Yesterday afternoon (15.02.2021), around four o'clock, my wife and I, (both in our eighties) took, to our great regret, a prescription for medicine by her doctor in Loftus Park Business Centre, to Dischem Pharmacy which is also located in the same business centre. There was only one pharmacist on duty and a long line of people waiting to be served. The queue was so long that it stretched far beyond the row of seats for waiting customers. My wife was sick and very uncomfortable standing and waiting so long. Eventually we progressed so far that she could take a seat. Since we took our places in the queue, we had to wait for a very, very long time to eventually be helped. When I then talked to the manager about their lack of preferential treatment of seniors, she mentioned that I should have asked their customer department to be helped. She could not answer my question how I should have known it if a notice to that effect had not been clearly shown. I consider this to be extremely poor service for seniors by Dischem and will definitely not go to that pharmacy again. My wife and I had been to a government department before and when we took our place in the queue that was waiting there, we were immediately escorted by one of the officials to a section where seniors and persons with physical disabilities, as well as expectant women enjoy preferential treatment. Is it too much to ask Dischem to apply the same policy? In my opinion, they can at least train the staff member sanitizing customers' hands at the entrance, to keep their eyes open for seniors and other deserving cases and refer them to a service point where they can receive preferential treatment. I expect better service from Dischem which is a nationwide pharmacist company, otherwise I have to seriously consider taking my business to another pharmacy. Prof John Higgins.
