No hug(gie)s this Mandela Day

On 18 July, Mandela day, at around 21.30, I came across a nappy special while browsing Dischem online store. I wasn’t greedy like many others, I placed my order for 2 packets of size 4 Huggies gold. I paid for my order and received a confirmation that I could collect at Dischem the next day. It clearly stated ORDER CONFIRMED (I have proof)

I really thought, wow, Dischem is great this Mandela day.

Only, to much disappointment, to receive an email that I will be credited as Dischem cannot give me what I ordered. No explanation was offered, no alternative, nothing. Not even an apology. Just store credit.

I called the store I was meant to pick up from first, confirming that they had stock. They advised me to call head office.

I then called head office and was told there was a mistake online. As my order was processed and confirmed, I do not feel that it’s fair to cancel my order when others have received their share. (I have proof) No one was willing to help me on the line, thutoM just advised that there is no person available that can help me. With it being 15.30 on a Friday I guess weekend and knocking off early are more important to your staff than your customers.

Anyway, after doing some digging, I saw this special has been available online since as far back as 12 July. Are you telling me that it took 7 days to pick up a mistake? (I have proof)

I was told that I signed Terms and Conditions that reserves the right for your company to do as you please and I have no say whatsoever. I have asked Dischem to share a copy of this with my signature or online signature to no avail.

I clearly remember a time where South Africans were boycotting Dischem due to the below. I was not one of them.

Did I not get my order due to my skin colour? Seeing that the people who did get theirs are of a different ethnic background than myself.
