No Empathy or Customer Service

On Monday, 25 June 2018 I went to Dischem Pharmacy Meadowdale up the road from my offices, spoke to the pharmacist, Yolandi Botha. I told her that my son has tinnitus since the beginning of May and he was not sleeping and is not well. My house doctor Dr Philip van der Merwe had sent me to a chemist to call him to get a prescription for my son. She said that she was unable to do that and that I needed to email the script to the address provided on an A4 piece of paper. I immediately became upset – how was I going to get my doctor to send a written prescription, I was running out of time and I said that she had no idea the type of day I had and that I needed to get someone to give me a prescription for my son, so that he can feel better and get some sleep. She then called the manager, Richard. I called my doctor and gave the cellphone to Richard to talk to my doctor for the prescription. During this time Richard had told me to calm down as nothing would be solved - meantime Yolandi from the back of the counter was insisting that she didn’t have an attitude when she attempted to help me. I feel that Yolandi or Richard did not handle the situation correctly, there was no compassion or showed any care for their customer – they could be selling cigarettes from a kiosk. From this I can see that they had no empathy for people - Yolandi’s attitude of supplying the A4 paper and reluctance to listen to me - to Richard telling me to calm down. This is not the Dischem I know, I have dealt with Dischem when they were a small chemist in Mondeor. I have a good relationship with Dischem Norwood and found all the pharmacists at this branch to be helpful and accommodating. My son, Dylan has been suffering from tinnitus since the beginning of May 2018. We have been to Philip van der Merwe for medication, went to an ENT for medication, went to an audiologist for a hearing test, did an MRI. I was trying to get hold of the ENT all day on Monday to tell him my son was vomiting and feeling nauseous on the weekend and not sleeping. As a last resort I contacted Philip van der Merwe and he prescribed me medicine. I was under a lot of stress to get something to help my son and I would not have gone to the chemist unless it was an emergency and my doctor told me to tell the pharmacist to call him to get a prescription.
