Mom existent customer service after sales

I bought a milk frother at dischem mall of africa past december, within a week, it was no longer working. I reached out to dischem , provided slip and the product image as requested, and the last time i had anything from them was 27th December. I am appalled really, is this how customer service is there? the silence is loud no feedback as its almost month end Jan? Why sell non quality items, ive had a frother before from a different merchant, if i had known buying it at dischem is a waste of money, would have saved myself the trouble
