Incompetence left me R1 000 poorer

I always purchase my chronic medication from Dischem pharmacies. I am on a variety of medications therefore it makes sense to get it all in one place where it is (usually) cheaper.

However, this past weekend (19 August) I handed in a new prescription for 20mg Ritalin that specifically stated that I need 40 capsules. The total amount I usually have to pay is just over R1 000. When I got to the till, however, the amount was suddenly R2995 and I did not have the necessary funds to cover the cost. I am a teacher and do not receive much money.

Red in the face, my husband had to run to the bank to transfer some funds into my account. I paid the full amount, not knowing what went wrong or why the increase was so sudden and dramatic.

When I checked my medication last night, I realised that the pharmacist's assistant gave me SIXTY capsules of Ritalin instead of FORTY. After my calculations last night, 30 x Ritalin = R999. Times that by two? R1999!

So what must happen now? I live two hours away from my nearest Dischem, and since my bank account has now thoroughly been drained thanks to the incompetence of your staff, I cannot afford to go back to the store. Unacceptable!!
