Incident at Dischem - Mall of Africa

I am writing in to let you know about a disappointing and highly traumatic experience at the Dischem store in Mall of Africa that took place last night. While we were in line to get OTC medication, without warning, a man violently and physically assaulted my sister and me after we merely questioned him about cutting in front of us in the line. The Dischem security guards watched on while this man verbally threatened us and then eventually got physically violent with us before the security intervened. My sister and I were crying hysterically as we were obviously traumatised by this incident. Instead of the Dischem admin manger (Shaun Kostyrski) helping us calm down, he addressed us like we were hooligans, like the man who had assaulted us. He told us to leave the store if we were not going to keep quiet and that we were frightening his customers (while in fact we too were customers). The two of us were no threat to him, but the way he addressed us was very intimidating and threatening and made us feel unsafe and completely not secure. We had to be comforted by other customers who witnessed the unfortunate incident, while the Dischem admin manager continued to address us in a poor manner. At one point he even came up close to our faces in an intimidating manner while he was addressing us (just after we had been assaulted by the man). My sister and I were no threat to him – He is twice our size and there was even security that was looking out for him, and clearly not for us. The Dischem floor supervisor (Eugene Ramatjie) and the security guards let the man who assaulted us get away without even detaining him for his disgusting and menacing conduct. They neither attempted to get his name or any details despite the fact that he had just assaulted us as customers in the Dischem store. I am sorely disappointed by how they handled the situation. In fact, the way Dischem staff handled the situation was just completely distasteful. They were not sympathetic at all and did absolutely nothing to assist us. If this man had ****** a measly chocolate bar, he would have been detained and a formal charge would have been laid against him, however, nothing was done by them to assist us. I even questioned all these men (manager and security guards) if they would have treated their wives, sisters or daughters in the same manner had they been violently assaulted by another man and sadly none of them could even give me a response. Last night is was made very clear that the male staff at Dischem MOA have no sympathy or respect for their female customers.
