Gross negligence

I have tried to resolve the matter with Dischem head office, without any success.

On 30 July 2025 I purchased insulin needles from your Rynfield Terrace branch. These supplies were safely put away at home, as always. When the one package was opened (10 August 2025), my husband picked the closed package up and felt a needle stick into his finger. One of the insulin needles in the package did not have its cap on and was bent at an angle. I noticed that this batch of needles I purchased was placed in additional dischem packaging and not only the original packaging from the supplier.

We immediately phoned for emergency advise. Medical attention was received on 11 August 2025. My husband was put on PEP treatment for 30 days and given a tet**** shot.

The medical aid did not cover the treatment and there will be additional tests needed, nevermind the loss of income due to the side effects this medication potentially has.

Dischem head office has ignored all communication from me.

I received a phone call from the manager at the store stating that someone from headoffice will contact me.

I spoke to the assistant manager in person and he was gonna follow up. No response.

So it seems that theyn think they can just ignore something like this and hope it goes away?
