False advertising and confusing lies

We purchased a fragrance gift set at the Woodmead Dis-chem which had a sticker showing a “Pay” price, the value of the saving and the “Total Value” - logically the pay amount was equal to total value minus saving. However when checking out the system recorded a price R200 more than that on the sticker. When we queried this we got a very convoluted and confusing story about how the Pay amount reflected the actual price of the cologne on a standalone basis while the saving was how much would be saved on this basis and total value was what would be paid at other stores. None of this explained why Pay was equal to total value minus saving and another amount was what we had to pay.
