Extremely Poor DeliveryD Service – Dis-Chem Springs Mall

I am extremely disappointed with the DeliveryD service at Dis-Chem Springs Mall. I placed an order shortly after 05:00 and selected the 10:00–11:00 delivery slot. After 10:30, I received a notification that my payment had been reversed.

When I called the store, I was told they did not have stock. This was unbelievable considering the order total was approximately R2 500. When I questioned this, I was informed that the “online department” would send out my order. Shockingly, the staff member did not ask for my name or order number, yet claimed they knew exactly which order I was referring to.

While I was at work, I received a call from home stating that the order was COD and an amount of over R300 was required on delivery. This information was not communicated to me by Dischem.

There was no one at home who could make payment, resulting in the order being sent back. This was extremely distressing as the order included urgent items, specifically diapers for my child with special needs.

Had I been informed upfront of stock issues, the need to pay COD, or general delivery problems, I would have made alternative arrangements immediately.

Unfortunately, this is not my first bad experience with this store’s DeliveryD service:

1. The Springs Mall store regularly has no stock available for DeliveryD orders. 2. A previous order was delivered to the wrong address, and I had to wait for the occupants to return home to retrieve my delivery. 3. Store staff provide very poor communication regarding online and DeliveryD orders.

I frequently use delivery services from other retailers, and Dis-Chem’s DeliveryD service is by far the worst I have experienced. The service quality is well below acceptable standards.

Notably, I have no issues when ordering directly from the Dis-Chem online store, where orders are fulfilled by the same store on the next working day. The problems appear to be specific to the DeliveryD service.

Dis-Chem should not offer a delivery service if it cannot be fulfilled competently. Customers should not be given delivery promises that the store is unable to honour.
