Disgusting Dischem Refund Mess

Good Day On the 1st of April 2018, I took my mother, Mrs AG de Witt, aged 74, who only obtains a government pension, to Dischem's Boksburg store to obtain her monthly essentials.

One of the items purchased was Osteo Eeze Gold capsules, on "special" for R247.95. We completed the purchases paying with my mothers SASSA pension card. The sale number C ********** TILL number 0008, cashier (121608) M. Visser.

We went directly after this purchase to Checkers next door. We found the Osteo Eeze capsules for R199.00. I within the hour returned the osteo eeze to Dischem as R 50.00 price difference is huge, especially to a pensioner. I was assisted by a short coloured lady who was at customer services. She requested my mother's SASSA card, advising that the payment would be reversed and my mother's DEBIT card would be credited. I knew this to be incorrect. She assured me it would be reversed within 24 hours.

Needless to say this didnt happen. My mother re**** on that money to get her through the month. She literally went without food, something I knew nothing about. I live in Pretoria, she in Boksburg so I can't see her as often as I would like to.

I collected my mother from her home in Boksburg on the 24th April at which time she advised me the money had never been credited. We went back to the Boksburg branch, spoke to the same lady, who then advised, BUT YOU CAN'T CREDIT A DEBIT CARD!!! She assured me she would arrange for a cash payment to be done at Dischem Kollonade branch as that is where myself and my mother are currently, as I reside in Sinoville Pretoria. The staff member said she had to "check the cameras" and "bank statements" first, as my mother cannot draw a statement on a SASSA card. It is not possible. SASSA is not a normal savings account. This lady who assisted us took all my information, advising she would sort it out ASAP. She called me on the 25th to say she was working on it. Today is the 2nd of May. Over a month later. No money. No feedback

I will in future be taking my mother to Clicks for all her essentials and no longer with either of us be supporting Dischem. We have been loyal customers since Dischem opened in South Africa, at the East Rand Galleria.
