Went to dischem store at Randburg Square and revert when I greeted the lady at the till (Gugulethu Buthelezi), sh asked why I was addressing her in English and proceeded to tell me that there is no need for me to address her in English. I mentioned to her that this is a democratic country with many official languages surely I'm allowed to use a language that I know we will both understand.

She didn't look impressed at all by my explanation. This is not acceptable in a country that is supposed to be a free country.

Please address this behaviour, we go to the shops to buy and not be confronted.
