Dischem Loopholes

I have to make use of Dis-Chem, but there are a few issues that really bother me. 1) Dis-chem pharmacists seem to think that they can make changes to scripts (if the prescribed medication) is not available WITHOUT first checking with the prescribing doctors. They know nothing about the patient's current condition or any allergies, but go ahead anyway. I had an alternative given to me that my father was actually allergic to and could not return it. 2) When there are meds missing or not available, no-one tells you this or checks with the prescribing doctor whether there are any alternatives. You have to "discover" this when you get home and phone them only then to be told that it is no longer being supp****. 3) I make use of homeopathic remedies. I wrote to the Dis-Chem customer site, but as of yet have had NO RESPONSE. I mentioned that there should be some warnings on these products for those who are lactose or gluten intolerant. Also, ginseng can play havoc with peoples' blood pressures, YET...no warning about these potentially harmful ingredients in the homeopathic range that Dis-Chem sells. This would not be their responsibility, but they can ensure that suppliers of these products are held to account. They actually could not care less...it is all about the money anyway. 4) Dis-Chem pharmacists can "prescribe" alternatives but cannot cut pills in half, apparently because of Covid. Interesting that. I have an 88-year-old dad who cannot do this for himself, but I need to... with poor eyesight. I do believe this is NOT about Covid, this is just a convenient excuse. I believe the true reason is that many pills break or shatter and that will then force the patient to return and buy more...it seems to only be about the money, don't you think? They do not want to incur the financial loss themselves and then just shift this onto elderly and often infirm pensioners. Ghastly if you ask me! So much for "caring" about their customers. I saw a man in the queue one day and asked his age...well over 90. He was hanging onto the railing for dear life. Why is there no special queue for the elderly or infirm? Not many of them can afford special caregivers? I have found out there is a queue but it is not clearly marked. Note to Dis-Chem: As you age your eyesight diminishes. Help these people. 5) Did you know that you can go to Dis-Chem and ask for a list of your expenditure on meds to submit to SARS? Well, you can...but only for prescribed medicines, not for the homeopathic ones. Why not? Also, they cannot email this to you for you to forward to SARS...hard copies only. Why is that? Possibly to prevent proper scrutiny by SARS of their financials? One can only wonder and share this information with the public as maybe then things will start changing for people who frequent Dis-Chem and especially for the elderly and the infirm. Lastly, I asked Dis-Chem for a pill cutter only to be told that there were none available anywhere and that I had to purchase these online. Well, I walked across the street to a nearby pharmacy and Voila! they had pill cutters that one could buy and get immediately. So, Dis-Chem, do not lie to the people who support you. Just make honest suggestions and restore our trust in you.
