Dischem Clinic Centurion Mall Nurse Ruanita Van Tonder

Good day,

On the 13/08/2021 I visited the clinic, I was there for my baby’s 9months immunisation and also I needed to get a family planning injection. We waited to be assisted and the receptionist gave us excellent service as usual.

Firstly nurse Ruanita attended to the baby, as she was injecting she did not even bother to explain to my husband and I what she was doing. We are the ones who told her about the 9M Menactia of R800 that we had been told about by the previous nurse that attended the baby at 6 months in the same dischem Centurion. We explained to her that we will pay cash for that and we know about it. In the middle of the consultation other nurses came in asking her in Afrikaans if she is not going out for Lunch. She did not apologise for that behaviour as they continued to have a conversation right during our consultation in front of us, inside the consultation room. I also had to get a pregnancy test and apparently she was done with the baby yet on the immunisation baby’s card on page 27 she did not fill in anything the only thing that she filled in is page 16 the baby weight and page 21 the baby’s height (nutritional Assessment). I need an explanation on this as we paid for everything but on the baby’s card none of the things that were done or what she was injected for has been written on her card.

Secondly as we were still in consultation she asked me to go to the pharmacy to get my injection for family planning. She asked my husband and baby to step out for a MINUTE, when I got back from the pharmacy and I didn’t even take 5 minutes as it was not busy she was busy with other people DURING our consultation (an Indian family to be exact) they took about 30 to 35 minutes. The family went out then her Nurse friends came in while we are told to wait for her. She took her time think she had her lunch and nice chat with her friends during OUR consultation! When she was done after almost 40 minutes she said I could come in, injected me and told me when my next appointment is within 1 minute she was done. Now my question to her is why couldn’t she finish with us then attend to other patients and friends? Having to wait that long in the Consultation process with a 9 months baby can be very draining for the baby and extremely irritating for us as parents. We felt very disrespected!

Secondly why did she not complete everything in the baby’s card, is it because she looked at us and thought this young black couple they don’t don’t anything?

I need answers in all this, but I promise you if I do not get answers I will take this further!!!

The poor service I got from her after visiting Dischem clinic for so long I have never experienced it, she was very *********** as a nurse and she clearly did not have any respect of us as Patients! I am honestly very disappointed in her behaviour and professionalism as a Nurse there in Dischem Clinic Centurion Mall.

The reason why I am complaining now is because I decided to go through my baby’s card today then I saw the was no information or whatsoever in the baby’s card.
