Disappointed
On 06/11/24 at around 16:45 I was followed by a man at Wonderpark mall in Pretoria whom I kept telling to leave me alone, but he didn’t listen. Instead he continued to walk with me and attempted to push my trolley. The nearest store to me where I thought I could find help was Dischem pharmacy. As I approached the door, I nicely asked the security lady to kindly tell this guy to leave me alone as a felt safe because I’m now speaking to a security guard instead she said I should continue walking with him because we look good together. She laughed it off and this guy continues to say I’m a customer she can’t chase me away. I then approached another lady in Dischem uniform and politely asked her to please tell this man to leave me alone… Her response: I don’t want to get fired or get a warning for chasing a customer out of the store. I was disappointed at the fact that I’m a loyal customer of disc-hem Wonderpark mall and I thought I could find help or Mabye someone can tell this man to leave me alone but to my surprise No one cared. Instead I had to loudly tell this guy to leave me alone so that people around me could hear me and see that I’m uncomfortable and I don’t feel safe. That was the only time he left me alone.
As I exited the store I told the security lady that next time when a woman asks for help she should take them serious. Her response: I thought he was your partner Then I said but I told you I don’t know him.
The floor supervisor came to ask if I was ok, I told him I’m fine but very disappointed at the Dischem staff. How they responded made me realise that Dischem doesn’t care about the safety of its customers all they want is customers to purchase and pay. Dischem only cares about making revenue and that I witnessed through the staff.
Will I ever buy from Dischem?? No!
