Dis-Chem/Baby City Gift card

I got a gift card from my company for my new born baby to go purchase things for her. We were able to use the card but unfortunately the card got ****** from my wife's wallet when she was shopping. The card still has an amount of R1440 on it. Dis-Chem and Baby City are now saying they can not issue us with another card. Even thou we still have a till sleep that has the card number etc. Now this feels like ******* because they can see the card on their system. If the money is traceable on their system but can not issue another card it feels like they are *****ing or robbing us. It feels like taking advantage of unfortunate situations of their customers. I accept that it was our fault that the card got ******. However there surely is a system where they are able to re-issue another card if they can see what is on it. To say they can not issue another one is total ******* because they have benefited from the money that was paid into the card as a gift. Meaning they are now benefiting from unfortunate situations of client's. I'm utterly disappointed in this conduct.
