Dis-Chem Pharmacy Returns

On Friday, 04 November 2016 I collected a new batch of chronic medication from Dis-Chem Pharmacy, Carlswald Lifestyle Shopping Centre, Midrand. The medication consists of two bottles of tablets. When I openned the medication on the morning of Tuesday, 08 November 2016 I found that the one bottle was NOT SEALED. Upon returning the medication on the afternoon of Tuesday, 08 November 2016 the pharmacist informed me that the medication comes sealed with 112 tablets and that the Doctor prescribed 120 tablets. The unsealed medication was NOT openned in my presence to add the additional 8 tablets. Having informed the pharmacist of this, the pharmacy manager was then called. The pharmacy manager then informed me that they cannot accept the medication back, because the bottle of the medication in question, was warm and that Dis-Chem keeps their medication in a controlled environment at 22 degrees celcius. The pharmacy manager did not understand that they issued me with UNSEALED medication. I insisted that I be issued with a sealed bottle. The pharmacy manager then instructed the pharmacist to "JUST HELP HIM!". The pharmacist then proceeded to issue new medication on the system and informed that the medical aid may not pay for the new medication since a batch had already been issued. When I it came to light that the pharmacist had infact invoiced me, I cancelled the transaction and left the pharmacy. I now have to fork out +/- R350.00 to have this chronic medication for the month of November 2016 and Dis-Chem pharmacy is getting paid in full, from the medical aid, for issuing UNSEALED CHRONIC MEDICATION.
