Dis-Chem Pharmacists who care? I don’t think so.

I have recently experience terrible service from the Dis-Chem in Northgate shopping centre, in particular from one manager, Vanessa Krog.

I purchased a Biogen Magnesium 60+30 Value Pack bundle.
When i took the magnesium supplement i experienced a reaction, that felt like mild food poisoning, i had a stomach ache, sensitive skin and a runny nose, enough of a reaction that i had to lie down for approximately 30 minutes. The symptoms lasted all day.

I thought that i was just sick, but then this happened again the next day. realising that there was something up with the pills i stopped taking them.
About 2 weeks later i took one again to test if it wasn’t just a cold or flu. Sure enough i experienced exactly the same symptoms.

I took the one bottle back on the 3rd of September, the lady at the Returns counter said that i needed to bring both bottle back as they were a part of a pack, as this was inconvenient i asked to see the manager, Vanessa Krog, who informed me first, that she was not able to refund me as the package was opened.
I explained the situation and she reluctantly agreed and said that i should bring in both bottles. Thats fair enough, however, she had an antagonistic attitude and was dismissive of my claim that the tablets had affected me in that way.

I returned to Dis-Chem today Saturday 24 September, with both bottles of the value pack.
Again i was directed to Vanessa Krog, who asked me what the issue was, I explained that i had had a reaction and that i suspected the tablets may be contaminated.
She was again dismissive and said that it was just magnesium tablets and couldn’t be contaminated.
She then turned away from me as i was explaining my symptoms and informed the Returns lady to refund me.

wow!!!
Dis-Chem Pharmacists who care? I don’t think so.

I haven’t had that level of poor service in a long time.
I have been a loyal customer of Dis-Chem for many years, but after my experience with Vanessa Krog that ends today. I still needed to get some goods today and the only thing that stopped my from going across the mall to Clicks was the fact that Dis-Chem did not give me a cash refund.

Vanessa Krog has one of the worst attitudes i have ever seen in retail, she should not be customer facing, put her in the store room, far, far, far away from your customers. She is hurting your business.
For R175.70 she has lost you a customer, think of it this way, i ended up spending R451.72 today, that is R276.02 more than what i payed for the Biogen pack, surely she can put it together that if she shows a customer "good will” the customer will continue to be just that, a customer. Perhaps more importantly, Vanessa Krog should be thinking about contamination of the product and logging a call with the supplier at a minimum, to see if there is a trend.
I take magnesium supplements all the time as i am a runner, and i have never had that reaction before.

For Vanessa Krog to be so dismissive is not good for Dis-Chem and Dis-Chems customers.
Do yourselves a favour and do one or all of these things:
1. Send her on basic customer training
2. Put her in a store room and let her only interaction be with a spreadsheet
3. or just give her a hug.
